Guwahati :To mourn the tragic death of innocent children and other people killed in a bomb blast while attending the Independence Day celebration held in 2004 in Dhemaji, Sok Divas was observed today at the Janata Bhawan premises. Maninder Singh, Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam administered the oath of Sok Divas among the officers and staff of Janata Bhawan.

Through the oath, everyone pledged to stand firmly against all acts of terrorism and militant violence, while beholding the non-violent principles of the nation. Dr. M. Angamuthu, Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Assam, GAD etc. Departments and Preetom Saikia, Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Assam, Elementary Education etc. Departments along with many other senior government officials were present on the occasion. Sok Divas was also observed at the Directorate of Information & Public Relations, Assam where the Director of the Department Anupam Choudhury administered the oath in the presence of officers and staff members of the Directorate.
