Mangaldai : Darrang Deputy Commissioner Dilip Kumar Borah has expressed grave concern over the gross encroachment of government land by a section of individuals or groups with personal benefits. He was talking to a group of delegates of NITI Aayog registered local NGO Crystal Vision at his office chamber on Tuesday evening. The delegates of the NGO visited Deputy Commissioner to discuss the scarcity of government land for registered socially committed active local non government bodies like Crystal Vision.

‘We are running our voluntary activities since 2009 from rented campus. In recognition of our selfless service to the society, Darrang district administration in 2014 honoured us with the Chief Minister’s  best community action award. Now we are running a government recognized children orphanage home. Since 2012 we  have been approaching the authorities for a  plot of government land in and around Mangaldai town  but it didn’t work. On the other hand in front of our own eyes we have seen encroachment of government land  almost everywhere .Even the river bed is not spared .” rued Manabendra Baruah, Secretary of Crystal Vision.

” DC  admitted our observation of encroachment of government land by vested interest circles . He assured us suitable government land for our organisation and also a necessary eviction drive to free government land from massive encroachment.” Baruah added.
