  • Srikrishna Committee report evokes mixed reactions in AP

    Srikrishna Committee report has evoked mixed bag of reactions in Andhra Pradesh. Responding to various options suggested by the Justice Srikrishna Committee, TRS has expressed dissatisfaction while Congress party MP Kavuri SambasivaRao wanted to have in-depth study before responding to the report. The other representative from the party who attended the all party meeting, Uttam Kumar Reddy expressed satisfaction over the committee’s suggestion to form separate state for Telangana as one of the options. From the left parties, the CPI said the Centre has to take political decision of Telangana as the report contained no new suggestions while the CPM said there was no change in the party stand for the united state.

    Talking to reporters after the meeting, Home Minister Mr. P Chidambaram said that out of the six options suggested by the Committee they have said that the first three are impracticable. He appealed political parties not to draw instant conclusions and expressed confidence that a solution to the issue will be found.

    Meanwhile, protest demonstrations have begun reporting from Warangal and Karimnagar districts, both in Telangana Region. Several Public Transport Busses have been stopped due to protest demonstrations in the district. Meanwhile, tight security arrangements at all key places including Osmania University in Hyderabad.
