  • Students repair PHE pipeline as the department failed

    Haflong  : Students of Haflong Government College, one among the three Government colleges of the State of Assam along with the hostel boarders repaired the water supply line as the concerned department failed to do.

    Students who were not getting drinking water due to leakage of pipeline caused by the plying of heavy vehicles over the approach road of the Haflong Govt College. The students of their own managing cement and other material repaired working throughout the day and even during they were found guarding repaired portion as the vehicles may damage the repaired portion road till midnight.

    It is learnt that the student earlier approached PWD, PHE, Haflong Town Committee and also the Chief Executive Member, N C Hills Autonomous Council with prayer to repair the approach road etc.

    They are of the opinion that despite their repeated no authority felt it necessary to address their grievances for the reasons best known to them. They alleged that the approach road of the prestigious college has become a dumping ground of garbage, illegal parking place for heavy vehicles.

    Talking to the media students expressed unhappiness over the indifferent attitude of the authority concerned towards their grievances and  also to the only higher educational institution of the district which they considered to be a temple rather.
