JALPAIGURI (Hindusthan.Samachar): Trinamool Congress on Tuesday  organised a sit-in agitation at Samajpara in Jalpaiguri demanding the Central Government to approbate 6 villages under South Berubari and Nagar Berubari village panchayats as part of India before signing Indo-Bangladesh enclaves exchange accord. More than 500 people had participated in the agitation.

Jalpaiguri district TMC president Chandan Bhowmick said Kajaldighi, Chilahat, Naotari, Debottar and Padanigram villages of South Berubari village panchayat and Singhpara village of Nagar Berubari village panchayat under Jalpaiguri Kotwali police station are absent in the map of India.

Bhowmick said these villages were present in the map of India before Indo-Pakistan war in 1971. The residents of these villages have Indian voter cards and get all the benefits provided by both state and central government to the citizens. But the villages they live in lack the recognition as Indian Territory.

The district TMC president urged the central government to approve the villages as part of the country’s territory before signing enclave exchange accord with Bangladesh.  Unless they will not let the government to implement the accord, warned Bhowmick
