  • World Population day Observed at Haflong

     Haflong : With the rest of the state of Assam, the World Population Day (WPD) was observed at Haflong on Thursday. The programme was held at office chamber of superintendent of Haflong Civil Hospital. Dr. Marina L. Changsan, i/c Addl. Chief Medical and Health Services, Haflong presided over the programme. The programme was organized by District Health Society, Dima Hasao, Haflong.

    After welcome address by Dr. Dipali Barman, Joint Director, Medical and Health Services, Haflong briefly highlighted about the activities taken up from its existence i.e:  from the year 1989.

    Dr. Marina L. Changsan, in her speech at length expressed her satisfaction for having all equipt and availability of Haflong civil Hospital in Dima Hasao, Haflong, for each and every method of preventive measures of birth control. She again make to know all that unlike previous years, this year the world population day has been observing in two streams of programme one as Mobilization Fort night (Dampatti Sampark Pakhwada) through ANMs and health Workers to educate mass people about the methods and processes of birth control and family planning and to adapt according to the eligible couples choices and the 2nd steam of programme as Population Fortnight  (Janasankhya Sthirta Pakhwada) which may also be called as Parivar Vikas Mela Fortnight. During the programme a discussion was held on the incentives for the beneficiaries and health workers like ASHA etc. and in this regard felt necessity to depute responsible persons that so that both may not deprived of.

    During the programme Dr. Leena Hakmaosa , SM&HO, Haflong elaborately explained about the global and particularity of India the problems created by the over population. She stressed upon the medical workers and media for wide service and awareness to be made on the over population and its corresponding problems to be faced by our country in near future.

    The programme was also attended by Rukmini Difoesa, DPM, NHM, Doctors, Nurses, ASHA worker and medical staff of Haflong Civil Hospital. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Kalpana Kemprai, superintendent, Haflong Civil Hospital, Haflong.
