    Punjab and Haryana High Court granted Aseemanand, who has been in jail for asseMANANDaround four years, bail during a hearing on Thursday.

    Aseemanand is a suspect in the Samjhauta Express blasts, which had occurred on February 18, 2007, near Dewana railway station, Panipat in Haryana, killing 68 people and injuring 12.

    The suitcase bombing took place in two bogies of the train. Sixty eight people, majority of them Pakistani nationals, died in the blast.

    Aseemanand and three others were facing trial in a special National Investigating Agency (NIA) court in Haryana’s Panchkula town.

    Aseemanand, who has been in jail since 2010 and a top RSS leader, was also arrested in the Mecca Masjid blast in Hyderabad in which 14 people were killed in 2007.
