The government has said that the estimated cost for distribution of food grains- rice, wheat and pulses under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana during April to November will be around one lakh 50 thousand and 471 crore rupees. This includes total estimated expenditure of 46 thousand and 61crore rupees to be borne by the Centre towards foodgrain subsidy and expenditure on intra state transportation, and dealer’s margin.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the extension of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana till the end of November 2020. The scheme has been extended from July to the end of November this year. During this five-month period, more than 80 crore people will be provided 5 kilogram free food grains per month along with one kilogram free whole chana to each family per month.
