The Delhi High Court today declined interimprotection from arrest to Congress leader and former Union minister PChidambaram for approaching the Supreme Court in the corruption and moneylaundering cases related to the INX Media scam.
Justice Sunil Gaur deniedrelief to Chidambaram. Minutes earlier, the high court had dismissed hisanticipatory bail plea.
CBI had registered an FIR on May 15, 2017,alleging irregularities in the FIPB clearance granted to the media group forreceiving overseas funds of 305 crore rupees in 2007 during Chidambaram’stenure as finance minister. The ED had in 2018 lodged the money laundering casein this regard.
Meanwhile, Chidambaram has moved the SupremeCourt for an urgent hearing of his anticipatory bail petition in connectionwith the corruption and money laundering cases after the Delhi High Courtrejected his petition.
