  • Naxal attack: High-level meet with Home Min underway in Raipur

    SHINDEA high level meeting to review security in Chhattisgarh in the wake of recent Naxal attack is in progress at Raipur.

    The Union Home Minister Mr. Sushil Kumar Shinde is presiding over the meeting. State Governor Shekhar Dutt and Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh are attending in the meeting.

    Earlier, after reaching Raipur

    the Home Minister went to the native place of former PCC Chief Nand Kumar Patel in Raigarh to convey his condolence to bereaved family. He also visited the hospital in Raipur injured in the attack are being treated.

    Ahead of his visit to Chhattisgarh Mr. Shinde assured full protection to politicians working in Naxal-affected states irrespective of their party affiliation. He told reporters last evening there is no flaw in government strategy to fight Naxalism.

    Home Minister said government is giving top priority to basic infrastructure and livelihood of tribals in the country.

    Meanehile, one Maoist commander surrendered before the police today in Narayanpur in tribal Bastar region of Chhattisgarh.

    Our correspondent reports that the self styled commander Navin was active in Nelnaar area for more than 10 years. . He surrendered with one rifle,3 magazines and 47 rounds bullets before IG, Bastar and SP, Narayanpur.
