  • NIA court convicts all five accused in 2013 Mahabodhi temple blast case

    Special NIA court of Patna on Friday held guilty all five accused in serial bomb blast case of Mahabodhi temple.

    Announcing the decision, Judge Manoj Kumar Sinha said quantum of punishment will be announced on 31st May.

    Two monks and several others were injured in serial blast on 7th of July 2013 at Mahabodhi temple in Bodhgaya.

    Three guilty are from Ranchi and two from Chattisgarh.

    Hyder Ali alias Black beauty, Imtiaz Ansari and Mujibullah Ansari are from Ranchi. Umar Siddiqui and Azhar Quraisi are from Chattisgarh.

    NIA has filed chargesheet on 3 June 2014. Ten cylinder bombs went off one after another, at Mahabodhi temple.

    Three live bombs were also recovered from the spot. The seized bombs were later defused by the personnel of the NIA’s bomb disposal squad and the National Security Guard (NSG).

    These persons are also accused of Gandhi Maidan bomb explosion at Patna which took place on 27 October 2013 during Narendra Modi’s rally.
